The Marks of Christ (Galatians 6:17)
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
It is impossible to imagine that someone has had a true encounter with Jesus and hasn't experienced deep changes in their thoughts and actions. As we read in the verse above, whoever is in Christ is a new creation.
The apostle Paul also stated to the church in Galatia:
Galatians 6:15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
We can't imagine "Christians" whose actions don't reflect the character of Christ, because this shows a need for conversion or real change.
We know that, after meeting Christ, a process of character building begins. Every day, the convert must show transformation in their actions and words, because everyone who fears God cares about living in a way that glorifies the Lord and abandoning behaviors that sadden or shame God's name.
This way, the Christian becomes part of a people that God calls HOLY (set apart).
Leviticus 20:7 Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.
Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
But after all, what does it mean to be a Christian?
Today, unfortunately, we see CHRISTIANS WHO DON'T FOLLOW CHRIST, which is completely contradictory.
How can someone call themselves a Christian and, at the same time, not believe or obey the commandments and teachings of Christ?
Nowadays, we find SO-CALLED CHRISTIANS who steal, commit adultery, deceive, lie, curse, swear, insult, yell, get drunk, and live with their homes destroyed.
These people have so much in common with the practices of the world that, outside the church, no one would ever guess they are Christians.
HOW CAN WE SAY THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE THE MARK OF CHRIST IN THEIR LIVES?
Actually, we can say that they carry the marks of the world — not Christ's — and that they need to convert to become true Christians.
Your testimony must be the testimony of a true disciple of Jesus, so that the people around you will want to know the GOD YOU SERVE AND THAT THEY SEE IN YOU.
Be a blessed person used by God, whose words build others up and generate blessings and salvation.
BE SOMEONE WHO IS ADMIRED, NOT QUESTIONED.
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
