To the one who conquers (Revelation 21:7)
Maybe you have already read the book of Revelation and noticed the wonderful revelations of Jesus given to the apostle John on the island of Patmos.
In addition to the revelations of what has already happened, what is happening, and what will happen soon, the book of Revelation shows us some truths that I would like to highlight here:
1 — It shows Jesus in His original state, that is, the condition He has always had since the creation of the world:
Revelation 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
2 — It shows Jesus as the only one with authority to pour out God's purposes over all the earth and to open the scroll with seven seals:
Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
3 — It shows Jesus with the authority to honor the faith of His people and save those who are faithful to Him:
Revelation 7:14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
4 — It shows Jesus as the judge of all humanity, with the power to save or condemn every life:
Revelation 20:
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
5 — It shows Jesus making it clear that we need to fight for our salvation.
Jesus stated at least eight times in the book of Revelation that only the one who conquers will inherit God's promises and salvation:
Revelation 2:7 To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
Revelation 2:11 The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.
Revelation 2:17 To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.
Revelation 2:26 The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations,
Revelation 3:5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
Revelation 3:12 The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
Revelation 3:21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
Revelation 21:7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
THE ONE WHO IS A CONQUEROR IS A CONQUEROR BECAUSE THEY OVERCOME SOMETHING — THEY WIN A CHALLENGE, THEY WIN A WAR.
Therefore, do not forget: salvation is not automatic. It's not because we once accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior that we are already saved. Quite the contrary — WE NEED TO FIGHT EVERY DAY to overcome sin, overcome the desires of the flesh, honor God, and show through our actions that our lives belong to Jesus.
Revelation 21:
6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.
7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
