Temptation and Lying (1 Peter 5:8)

In our lives, both naturally and spiritually, there will always be situations we must overcome.

As we have said on other occasions, overcoming temptations should be a daily challenge for all Christians, and you must understand that temptations will always be around you, trying to lead you astray from God's paths and prevent you from reaching His promises.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Temptation and lies are the devil's favorite weapons to make you sin and, consequently, make you suffer the consequences of sin.

It was like that with Adam and Eve. Satan observed the desires in Eve's heart and acted exactly on that opportunity, making her and Adam disobey God and sin.

FIRST: Satan observed and tried to confirm what God's commands were:

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”

SECOND: Satan corrupted the Word of God, saying that God was a liar:

Genesis 3:
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.”

THIRD: The strength of Adam and Eve's desire and ambition was greater than their fear of God, their faithfulness to God, and their love for God:

Genesis 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.

The result of Adam and Eve's sinful decision was terrible, for it caused the separation between man and God, along with a curse and death.

Satan continues to use the same strategy today: he observes, corrupts the Word of God, and lies, saying that "ANYTHING GOES".

How many times does man act just like Adam and Eve did, sinning and disobeying God so openly.

God's thoughts haven't changed and never will, simply because GOD DOES NOT CHANGE.

Malachi 3:6 “For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.

What was a sin yesterday, remains a sin today, and will be a sin tomorrow.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

The consequences of sin also remain the same, which means they generate separation between man and God, as well as curses and death.

Numbers 23:19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

STAY ALERT AND OVERCOME TEMPTATIONS, just as Jesus overcame them in the desert when He was tempted by the devil (Matthew, chapter 4).

Put an end to the devil's lies, live God's truth, which is His Word, position yourself as a true child of God, who obeys and honors God and does not listen to the darkness.

YOU CAN DO IT!

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
